It's Been A While

Hi there, I'm Taryn Raabe, owner of Layered Elements. It's been a while since our last chat, so I thought it was time to give an update on the shop, and it’s probably time to reintroduce myself!

Rainy day naps, romance novels, and a warm cup of coffee are my jam. I love being creative and I'm an entrepreneur at heart. Getting to help clients discover their creative side and style is my passion! Whether it's designing or updating your space, or styling an outfit, I find great joy in both. 

When I was a little girl I remember thinking about what I wanted to do when I grew up. I was around 12 years old when I found out I wasn't going to have a singing career, coming up with the next Lays Potato Chip flavor was not a career, and my drawing and painting skills were not up to par, but I've always had an eye for design. 

My parents got into real estate, which later turned into house renovations, or "flipping houses", and while I was little to no help on demo day, something I was fascinated in was designing a new layout and picking out the finishing touches. I watched my parent's vision come to life when the houses were complete and it was as if they had the world at their fingertips. As the years passed, I found myself becoming more and more interested in the industry. I remember going to other homes and thinking of things I would do if I lived there, and I got that from my parents.

It's been a thrill to be able to work alongside my parents and my clients. When COVID-19 hit, my clientele grew. With everyone stuck at home, those house projects were no longer being neglected, and a lot of people were ready to give their home some attention. 

Like everyone else, the pandemic allowed me to do some reflecting. I knew I needed a new way to pursue my dreams and it was time to expand my brand, that's why we decided to bring in fashion. 

My passion is design and working with clients and it's no secret I've always had a "passion for fashion". The feeling you get after styling someone with a new outfit is just as great as styling a home!
